Varsity Assistant Coach James Singleton
Coach James Singleton is starting his first year at Marcus High School. Originally from Chicago, IL, he has 15 years playing experience as a PRO with 9 years overseas and 6 years in the NBA. After his professional career, James decided it was time to stay a little closer to home with his family and coached for the San Antonio Spurs G-League team as an assistant and player development coach. Coach Singleton is very excited to join the Marcus coaching staff and make a positive impact on the youth within our community. Coach Singleton lives in Lantana with his wife Amanda, daughter Blake, and two sons Sebastian and Dax.
JV Coach / Varsity Assistant Coach Austin Rodriguez
Coach Austin Rodriguez is entering his 8th year of coaching, 3rd year at Marcus High School as the JV Coach and Varsity Assistant. He graduated from Marcus High School in 2007, and is proud to be back working at his Alma mater. He attended Arizona State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. He spent 4 years at Griffin MS in The Colony, coaching basketball and football. He was at Newman Smith HS in Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD last year, where he was a Varsity assistant and Head Freshman basketball coach. Coach Rodriguez teaches World History at the Main campus.
Freshman A Coach Eli Rodriguez
Coach Eli Rodriguez is from Dallas, Texas. He played football, basketball, baseball & track at Berkner High School located in Richardson, Texas. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University. Coach Rod is starting his 39th season with 29 of those years in Lewisville ISD and Marcus HS. He has two super awesome children: Kasie, who has his two grand kids (Shealyn & Thomas) and his son Austin, who also coaches at Marcus. The famous quote that inspires Coach Rod is, “Age is an issue of Mind Over Matter. If you don’t Mind, It doesn’t Matter.”
Freshman B Coach Blaine McBride
Coach Blaine McBride is starting his second year at Marcus High School. He graduated from Angelo State University and then began his coaching career in 2012. He has previously been an assistant coach at Coppell High School and Denton High School. Coach McBride is a Dallas native graduating from Hebron HS. He is married to his wife named Shaun and they have 2 children named Camryn (4 yrs) and Cade (7 months).
